Oven, toilet stolen from Piedmont home, 2 arrested

(KRON) -- Two suspects were arrested in connection with the burglary of a Piedmont home on Monday, the Piedmont Police Department said. An oven and a toilet were among the items stolen from the home.

The burglary happened on the 200 block of Greenbank Avenue at about 7 a.m. The victim told police that the oven, toilet and tools were among the items taken.

A PPD investigation revealed that a Ford pickup truck was believed to be involved in the crime. The truck was registered to an Oakland home. Police went to that home and found the truck and the stolen equipment.

Police located the suspects at the home and arrested them. Officers found several replica handguns inside the truck, and one suspect had more than four grams of meth.

The stolen items were returned to their owner. Police posted pictures of items recovered, which included a large toolbox and four phones. The oven appeared to still be in a box.

Multiple people shot in Oakland, 2 arrested

(KRON) -- Multiple people were shot in Oakland on Friday and two people were arrested in connection to the incident, the Oakland Police Department said.

OPD responded to the 6200 block of International Boulevard just after 5:30 p.m. for the shooting. Officers found one victim, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Shortly afterward, more victims arrived at local hospitals, OPD said. An investigation revealed that all of them suffered their injuries at the shooting on International Boulevard.

All of the victims are in stable condition, according to police. OPD did not specify how many victims were reported.

Officers located two people involved in the shootings and arrested them while they were trying to escape using public transportation, according to police.

Car catches on fire following pursuit in Santa Rosa, 2 arrested

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KRON) - A car caught on fire following a high-speed chase in Santa Rosa early Tuesday morning, according to the police department.

The driver and the passenger were safely taken out of the car and were taken into custody.

26-year-old Skyler Rasmussen of Santa Rosa was identified as the driver, and 32-year-old Brittany Hamilton of Santa Rosa was the passenger.

Around 2:48 a.m., an officer spotted a silver Infinity Sedan run a red light at Dutton Avenue and West 3rd Street. The car sped down the road before turning onto the eastbound Highway 12 on-ramp.

The officer tried to pull the sedan over, but it continued driving at about 80 miles per hour.

Rasmussen took police on a pursuit reaching up to 100 miles per hour at times. Authorities say the car came to a stop when the engine caught fire.

The car stopped near the Highway 116 off-ramp in Cotati.

Rassmussen and Hamilton were not injured in the car fire.

Officials determined that drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the pursuit.

Rasmussen was arrested for felony evading and felony parole and probation violation. Hamilton was arrested for seven misdemeanor warrants.

2 arrested, gun recovered after targeted incident at Walnut Creek Cheesecake Factory

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KRON) - Two people are facing charges after a gun was pulled out at a Walnut Creek Cheesecake Factory on Sunday afternoon.

The Walnut Creek Police Department responded to the restaurant on Locust Street around 5 p.m. following reports that a man had a gun.

Officers detained people without incident when they arrived on the scene.

Police determined the incident was targeted.

21-year-old Lauren Lopez and 20-year-old Joshua Miles from San Francisco were taken into custody.

According to authorities, a fight broke out between several customers when Miles pulled out a gun -- The gun was registered to Lopez.

Police searched the area and found a bag with a handgun, extra magazines, and a wallet under a water fountain next to the table that the two had been sitting at.

Lopez and Miles face charges, including being in possession of a firearm and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Police say crime rates in Walnut Creek have been consistent over the past five years.

"We understand that even a few incidents can be disturbing. That's why our Police Department has stepped up downtown patrols recently during weekends, increasing visibility and enhancing public safety," Chief Jamie Knox said.
