(KRON) -- Car parts have been stolen from multiple cars on Stanford's campus over the last few months, the Stanford Department of Public Safety said Thursday. Tires, catalytic converters and hoods are among the parts that have been taken.
Stanford DPS reported thefts happening between Oct. 23, 2023, and Jan. 12, 2024, at the following locations:
- Parking lot behind Mayfield Row
- Wilbur Parking Lot (three incidents)
- Governors Corner Parking Lot
- 955 Mears Court
- 585 Cowell Lane
The thefts typically happen during evening and overnight hours. Wheels (tires and rims), catalytic converters, hybrid batteries, hoods and bumpers are the parts that have been stolen.
The suspects typically steal from Toyotas, including Priuses, Yarises and Corrolas, according to police. A Honda Element and Ford F-150 have also been victimized.
Stanford DPS recommends keeping valuables out of sight and reporting suspicious activity.
Police do not have any additional information about these thefts. Anyone who does is asked to call (650) 329-2413.
