Alcatraz to reopen with limited capacity

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KRON) - Today the National Park Service announced Alcatraz Island will reopen on Monday, March 15h.

Alcatraz Island will reopen on Monday, March 15.

Following changes to local public health guidance, outdoor areas of the island and some indoor facilities, including the iconic cell house, will be open for visitors.

Outdoor areas will be open to all visitors, but the Cell House will be limited to people who sign up for an audio tour.

Food will not be served on the ferry or on the island, and face masks will be required.
