Storm-related power outages continue

(BCN) -- Storm-related impacts such as trees falling on power lines have knocked out power to over 16,000 customers around the Bay Area on Wednesday morning, according to the latest numbers from PG&E.

As of 6 a.m. Wednesday, there were:

  • 244 in San Francisco
  • 2,898 on the Peninsula
  • 1,338 in the North Bay
  • 243 in the East Bay
  • 11,627 in the South Bay
  • 16,350 total in the Bay Area

Numbers have increased significantly from Monday. This is due to the overnight weather system which included wind gusts in excess of 70 mph and more than 100 cloud to ground lightning strikes, according to a PG&E spokesperon.

More than 4,100 PG&E, contract and mutual-aid crews are working to get power restored, according to PG&E spokesperson Megan McFarland.
