Crews respond to brush fire near Highway 12 in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Calif. (KRON) - Crews have stopped the forward progress of a 2-acre brush fire in Fairfield.

On Tuesday night, the Fairfield Fire Department reported a blaze burning near Highway 12 and Beck Avenue.

The fire was upgraded to a first alarm.

Officials say the forward progress has been stopped and crews are mopping up the scene.

Eastbound Highway 12 was closed in the area. Residents are asked to avoid the area.
